InDesign Basics: A Quick Guide to Master Pages


 


Whatever you place onto the Master page will be visible on all the pages of your document that have the Master applied to them

  A-Master  Pages  (Window > Pages)

 
  Rectangle Tool (M)  Swatches  (Window > Color > Swatches) 

 Copy > Paste 

 

  Type Tool (T)   Type > Insert Special Character > Markers > Current Page Number ‘A’ 

 Character  (Window > Type & Tables > Character)  Formatting Controls 
 Copy > Paste   Align Right  

 Type Tool (T)   (Right-Click [Windows] or Ctrl-Click [Mac] > Transform > Rotate)

  • You can add linked text frames to your Master.   
  • The elements sitting on your Master page don’t necessarily need to sit behind the content of your pages.  (Window > Layers) 
  • You can create as many Master pages as you like. 
  • You can delete Masters  Right-Clicking (Windows) or Ctrl-Clicking (Mac) > Delete Pages 
  •  [None]
